Nature Friend - Helping Families Explore the Wonders of God's Creation

"Helping Families Explore the Wonders of God's Creation" and that it does!

Are you a nature buff? Do you take nature walks? Do your children love to learn about nature? Do you and your children need to learn more about nature? This magazine is a great tool!

Nature Friend includes great articles on things such as: walking sticks, birds, turtles, the stars, cicada and frogs just to name a few. The articles have a good amount of information on the topic and we always learn something new! The photos that go with the articles are beautiful.

Some other features include: hands on learning, art, photography, hidden pictures and pictures and poems.

I really like the testimony that Nature Friend has:

"Since the doctrine of Divine Creation is the first and foundational one of Scripture, our children must be able to stand on it securely to withstand the undermining influences from our culture. Nature Friend has never chosen to be controversial or militantly confrontational about creation vs. evolution. Its policy has been to simply stand on the truth of God’s Word and to present it as enjoyable fact while learning about the creatures God has created. Nature Friend recognizes that God has planned for man to be wise stewards over His creation, and that He alone is to be worshipped, not His creation."

Nature Friend can be enjoyed as a great magazine to read or it can be utilized as a homeschool curriculum. Not only are there informative articles but in every issue there is a section on art called, "You Can Draw". It takes you step by step in the process of drawing something such as a bear or a sunflower. After a drawing is done, you can submit it to the magazine in hopes that it will be picked and put in a future publication.

Another section in the magazine is called, "Learning by Doing". There is an article on a specific subject (like animal tracks or pigments in plants) and then it gives an idea for an experiment or a hands on learning activity.
As a homeschool mom, I really like this feature!
Nature Friend also has a study guide option. (It is an extra $2 a month.)
From their website:
"Study Guides enhance your experience with Nature Friend magazine. They accompany each issue, and besides exercises to reinforce what was learned, there are several bonus features. "A Study in Nature; a Lesson in Writing" teaches creative writing. "The Photo Critique" teaches nature photography tips, and is an opportunity to submit your nature photos for possible publication."

Nature Friend Magazine:
One Year Subscription: $36

I was given 2 issues of Nature Friend magazine to review. I really liked it and can see how this magazine could enhance a home school. I hope you will enjoy it too!
